Bulgaria Producer Prices Up by 1.9% in April m/m

Bulgarian producer prices increased 1.9% in April on a monthly basis and 5.6% on an annual basis, data showed on Friday.

The index is indicative of the trends in the consumer prices inflation, which has been steadily growing over the last few months and increased in April by 1.1% on a monthly basis and 1,8% on an annual basis, mainly driven by a hike in the prices of cigarettes and fuels.

Mining industry prices jumped by 6.3% on the month, processing industry prices marked a 2% increase, while prices of water, power, electricity and gas were up by 0.7%.

Factory prices, including prices on the local market for Bulgarian products sold internationally, reached the record-high 8.1% year-on-year in April, after rising 5.2% the previous month. On a monthly basis prices rose 2.1%.

The increase in factory prices is driven mainly by the prices in manufacturing, which marked a 12.2% increase. The basic metals industry recorded the biggest jump of 42.3%.
