Rumen Porozhanov, CEO of Bulgaria’s State Fund Agriculture, has described the completion of the 2007-2013 Rural Development Program as a real challenge.

In a Sunday interview for the Bulgarian National Radio he made clear that projects would be received by the SFA Paying Agency by October 15.

He made clear that the SFA would then have three months to make the payments.

He urged applicants to not wait for the deadline because it would be very difficult to do all the work in 3 months at the end of 2015.

Porozhanov informed that projects worth BGN 1.9 B were being implemented, adding that Bulgaria would have to absorb BGN 1.4 B in order to not have to return money to the EU.

He reminded that the Agriculture Ministry had requested an extension of the deadline for absorption of the funding by mid-2016, adding that the motion was not very likely to be approved.

The CEO of Bulgaria’s SFA stressed that the program for the 2014-2020 programming period had been approved.

He explained that work on the 2014-2020 edition of the program had began alongside the final steps under the 2007-2013 version.
