9 European Countries in Sofia Are Discussing Future Agriculture PolicyBulgaria in EU | March 12, 2019, Tuesday // 17:10| views
The adoption of the Common Agricultural Policy after 2020 is unlikely to become during the mandate of this European Parliament. But even if there is a delay, this will not delay payments to the agricultural sector in Bulgaria. This was assured by Minister Rumen Porozhanov during a discussion in Sofia.
Representatives of 9 European countries, including Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary, exchanged their positions on agricultural financing. They adopted a joint declaration and agreed to maintain tied support to farmers.
This means financing the production of individual crops that each country determines on its own.
The parties are also against the introduction of a ceiling on direct payments. If it still exists, however, each country must be able to determine when and how to apply it.
Bulgarian proposals have already been submitted to the European Parliament. The Multiannual Financial Framework is expected to be approved by the end of the year.
