The European market is central to the Bulgarian producers, it is highly competitive. But for us, relations with non-EU countries are also very important, and native farmers and processors need to be able to come out in good markets like Morocco and North Africa. This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forests Rumen Porozhanov at a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco HE.El Midaoui Zakia.
She submitted an invitation for Bulgarian companies to participate at the largest Moroccan farm exhibition, which will be held from 16 to 21 April. Last year it was attended by representatives of 70 countries, including 23 African countries and visited by over 1 million people.
Morocco is also a commodity distribution center for the rest of Africa, can be seen as a platform for Bulgarian exporters, and for its part Bulgaria is a gateway to the Balkans, she said. In order to strengthen the trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, a joint Bulgarian-Moroccan Chamber of Commerce is set up.
Minister Porozhanov reminded that during the European Presidency and now, Bulgaria's priority is to strengthen international contacts.
''Big investments in one country or another are a complicated process, but when there is mutual interest it is absolutely realistic to happen'', Minister Porozhanov concluded.
