Russia fully guarantees adequate delivery of natural gas to Europe, stated Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko upon meeting Bulgarian counterpart Traicho Traikov in Moscow Tuesday.

"The perception of decreased deliveries of gas to Balkan countries arised because of increased consumption due to the bad weather in Europe," said Shmatko.

"There will be no problems with the delivery of requested amounts to Bulgaria and other European countries," added the Russian Minister of Energy.

During the first days of February, a number of European countries, including Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Italy and Germany, said that Russian company Gazprom is not meeting their demands.

According to Gazprom sources, situation in all of them except Germany, Italy and Romania, has been normalized, with the countries receiving the amounts they requested.

Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller has said that the company is doing all it can to satisfy increased demand due to exceptionally cold weather.

He added that according to Gazprom estimates, demand has currently risen to 150% of the previously expected levels, writes RIA Novosti.

According to Miller, during January Gazprom has fully satisfied demands for natural gas for Europe, and the situation is bound to get back to normal.
