Bulgaria Killer-Bus Owner Permanently Detained

The District Court in Bulgaria's Yambol has ordered that the owner of the bus that killed 17 people on Thursday remains in custody.

Slavi Slavov, owner of MCI transport company, has been accused of causing the death of more than one person, Darik Radio reported.

A bus careered down a mountainside called Bakadzhik Peak and plowed through a crowd of pedestrians heading to a religious festival in southeastern Bulgaria Thursday, killing 17 people and injuring at least 20.

Police said the bus had failed to stop due to a technical problem.
