A homeless man discovered a sack containing human body parts next to a waste container in the Trakia residential district of Plovdiv, according to local media reports. The grim discovery was made beside bins located between blocks 27 and 28.
The signal was received at around 1:30 p.m. via the emergency number 112, the Regional Police Directorate confirmed. Following the alert, Interior Ministry teams were dispatched to the scene, and the area on Georgi Danchov Street was immediately cordoned off.
Senior police officials, including the head of the Fifth Police Department in Plovdiv Nikolay Kirkov and the director of the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry Vasil Kostadinov, arrived at the location, alongside the mayor of the Trakia district Georgi Gatev.
A forensic team has also begun an on-site inspection, with specialists from the forensic laboratory working to collect and analyze evidence. Early information cited by BNT suggests that severed male limbs were found inside a black plastic bag.
Authorities say the investigation is still in its initial phase, with further details expected after forensic examinations are completed and additional evidence is processed.
The case comes weeks after a separate incident in mid-February, when the body of a newborn baby was discovered in a plastic bag near a playground in the Druzhba-1 district of Sofia. That earlier discovery was made by sanitation workers cleaning the area near waste containers.
