Specialized Navy teams in Bulgaria carried out multiple operations over two consecutive days in response to reports of objects found in the Black Sea. All cases involved reconnaissance, identification and transport of items initially suspected to be unexploded ordnance or hazardous debris.
On April 3, a unit from the Naval Base in Burgas was deployed after a request from the regional administration and approval from the Chief of Defense. The team examined and retrieved an object that had washed ashore in the Kraimorie district near Burgas. It was identified as a drone wing. Authorities confirmed that it contained no explosives and did not pose any risk. The object was subsequently transported to the Naval Base in Burgas.
A separate operation took place on April 2 near Cape Limnos, close to Tsarevo. There, another Navy team from Burgas responded to a similar request and recovered an unmanned aerial vehicle that had been carried ashore from the sea. Following inspection, it was also determined that the device did not contain explosive material and was safe. It was likewise taken to the Burgas Naval Base.
In a third incident reported the same day, a Navy module from Varna responded after a ship traffic officer alerted emergency services about a floating object resembling a mine. A specialized team carried out a check and established that the item was not a weapon but a buoy from a mussel farm. It was removed from the water as a precaution.
