A Member of the European Parliament, an Air Force General, and the current Ombudsman are three of six potential candidates of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) for the forthcoming presidential elections, Socialist leader Korneliya Ninova has announced.
MEP Iliana Yotova, Yanaki Stoilov, former Economy Minister Rumen Gechev, former BSP leader Mihail Mikov, Ombudsman Maya Manolova, and Bulgarian Air Force Commander Maj Gen Rumen Radev have confirmed their willingness to have their nominations considered by the board of BSP Bulgaria Left coalition, Ninova said at a news conference on Tuesday.
The meeting of the left-wing political coalition will start at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
The BSP will then hold talks with the left-wing ABV party led by former President Georgi Parvanov, and Movement 21 led by Tatyana Doncheva consider their nominations and try to agree jointly on a common tandem of candidates for president and vice-president.
Ninova confirmed she would not run in the November 6 presidential elections even though she had received the highest number of nominations from party members countrywide.
