A meeting of the consultative group on countering terrorism to Bulgaria's government's security council concluded that no direct threat faces Bulgaria.

The group was established on the order of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov in March.

The meeting in the interior ministry on Friday brought together representatives of the State Intelligence Agency, State Agency for National Security (DANS), the interior, foreign, defence and transport ministries as well as the secretary of the government's security council.

They discussed the latest situation in Europe and the Balkan region in the context of Thursday's terrorist attack in Nice, which claimed the lives of at least 84 people and left around fifty other injured.

The participants in the consultative group agreed that at present there is no information pointing to any concrete threats, but due to the complicated situation in Europe and the countries from the Balkans, the security measures already taken across the country will remain in force.

At the same time, the security services will continue to actively monitor and analyse the security environment.
