Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk will submit his resignation to the country's parliament next week.

Yatsenyuk made this announcement in his weekly appearance on TV on Sunday, saying that his resignation will be tabled to parliament on Tuesday.

Yatsenyuk blamed the failure of politicians to “enact real changes”, the BBC quotes him as saying.

He has served as prime minister of Ukraine since the overthrow of the former pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych in February 2014.

In February this year, incumbent Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had called on Yatsenyuk to step down for having lost support.

His government has been accused of inaction and corruption and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has threatened to withhold aid money if reforms are not implemented.

The resignation of Yatsenyuk will be immediately followed by the formation of a new government and a new majority in parliament.

Poroshenko has nominated Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Groysman to succeed Yatsenyuk.
