The Foreign Ministry in Sofia has again warned Bulgarian citizens visiting Turkey to exercise high vigilance and caution in view of increased risk of terror attacks.

Bulgarian citizens are also being advised to avoid travel to southeastern Turkey.

“Due to the increased level of terrorist threat introduced by the Turkish authorities we advise against visiting places with high concentration of people such as tourist sites, shopping malls, as well as the central parts of Ankara, Istanbul and other major cities,” the Foreign Ministry in Sofia said in a statement on Friday.

Earlier this week, the U.S. Department of State ordered the departure of family members of U.S. government personnel posted to the country’s consulate in Adana and family members of U.S. government civilians in Izmir and Mugla provinces, and restricted official travel to Turkey to “mission-critical” travel only.
