The 29th edition of the annual cinema festival Kinomania will take place at the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia between November 12 and 29.

The festival will show some of the major winners at this year’s international film festivals in Berlin, Cannes, Venice, and others.

A total of sixty movies will be shown at the festival, with seven of them being Bulgarian films.

The focus of this year's edition will be on Bulgaria cinema, which is celebrating its centenary this year

The Bulgarian movie “Karatsi” (“Losers”) directed b Ivaylo Hristov will unveil the festival on Thursday.

The movie, which was awarded the main prize at the 37th edition of the Moscow International Film Festival in June, tells the story of a group of high school students who live in a small town and the difficulties they face with love and loneliness.

The wide selection of hot titles includes the hit play “Hamlet” with the participation of the Oscar-nominated British actor Benedict Cumberbatch and one of the most successful movies in 2014 “Roger Waters The Wall.”

Some of the titles will be presented for the first time in front of a larger audience.

The festival dates back to 1987, when it started as World Film Panorama.

For nearly three decades, the festival has provided cinema lovers with the opportunity to enjoy a variety of worldwide successful productions but also to get closer to Bulgarian cinema.
