Bulgarian Tourist Attractions to Appear in Online Register

Online register of the tourist attractions in Bulgaria will be soon available at the website of Tourist Ministry.

This was announced by Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova, who was on a visit to Ruse on Thursday, Darik radio reports.

The information gathered from all municipalities, showed that there were more than 20 000 tourist attractions on the territory of Bulgaria.

Angelkova said that there were 280 tourist sites in the district of Ruse, which together with the efforts of local authorities, citizens and business were turning the city into one of the most important tourist centres along the Danube River.

The minister is in Ruse for the Weekend Tourism exhibition, which also features a Tourist Entertainment and Animation Festival.

Angelkova revealed that 83 000 tourists visited Ruse last year, including 22 000 foreigners and among them 2000 Japanese visitors.

For the first time in fifteen years, the Regional Historical Museum was visited by 70 000 people, which was an absolute record.

The minister announced that the order for splitting the country into tourist regions had already been signed and the work on the management organisation of the regions was forthcoming.

Angelkova advised the municipalities to launch the process as soon as possible, so that the organisations could apply for funding under the new Innovation and Competitiveness Operational Programme.
