For a fifth year in a row the Sofia Science Festival is being held in Bulgaria's capital, bringing together dozens of scientists and inspiring amateurs, teachers, kids and parents alike.

Between May 14 and 17, an enormous variety of topics will be delved into: GMOs, the role of light and clocks in the rhythm of life, controversies around stem cells, artificial intelligence, the myths of "magic", and many others.

World-renowned Prof Richard Dawkins is among the special guests of the festival. Tickets for his event, Queerer than We Can Suppose, on Saturday were sold out within days, and another one was scheduled for Thursday, May 14, at 12:00.

Apart from Prof Dawkins, other notable foreign participants include Simon Watt. A biologist, writer, science communicator and TV presenter, Mr Watt has dedicated much of his life to making scientific information attractive and easy for anyone to understand. He is also MC/president for life of the "Ugly Animal Preservation Society".

The program also features Master of illusion Drummond Money-Coutts (DMC), a world-famous British magician running a popular show on the National Geographic Channel.

But the festival also includes a number of Bulgarian scientists, some of whom also took part in previous years.

All presentations are to take place in the Zaimov park and the adjacent Theater Sofia, just where Yanko Sakazov Blvd and Evlogi Georgiev Blvd meet a few hundred meters from Sofia's downtown area.

The British Council has organized the festival every year since the spring of 2011.
