A 40-meter-high Ferris wheel has been installed in central Sofia, becoming a new attraction for residents and visitors seeking panoramic views of the capital. The structure is part of the SunFest Sofia program and is positioned in the Royal Garden, close to the National Theatre.
Organizers say the attraction is currently the tallest mobile Ferris wheel operating in Bulgaria. It is expected to remain in place for the duration of the festival, adding a new entertainment feature to the city center.
The wider festival is launching alongside celebrations marking 147 years since Sofia was proclaimed the capital of Bulgaria. The event takes place in the Prince’s Garden area, in front of the former monument to the Soviet Army, and is described as a new city initiative focused on entertainment, shared experiences, and cultural activities.
According to reports, the Ferris wheel stands 40 meters tall and includes 24 cabins, each accommodating up to six passengers. A full ride lasts approximately 10 minutes and consists of several smooth rotations.
Operating hours are set from 11:00 to 22:00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 22:00 during weekends. Children under the age of four are allowed free access.
Alongside the Ferris wheel, visitors will also be able to take part in additional festival activities, games, surprise events, and food offerings from designated culinary stands spread across the venue.
