Bulgaria's volleyball player Teodor Salparov was declared the best libero as his team Zenit Kazan won the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) Champions League on Sunday.

The Russian team defeated convincingly in the final Asseco Rezovia from Poland with 3:0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-21), daily Dnevnik reports.

Thus, Zenit lifted its third Champions League trophy, after it had previously won the tournament in 2008 and 2012.

The Russian team was awarded the right to compete in the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship, which is scheduled to take place late in October in Belo Horizonte.

The man of the match and top scorer in the final was the Cuban star Wilfredo Leon with 18 points, who eventually became the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Final Four tournament.

Salparov was not the only Bulgarian representative at the final, as Nikolay Penchev appeared in all three sets for Asseco, scoring three points.
