Bulgaria's Environment Minister Ivelina Vasileva announced on Wednesday that BGN 13 M will be added to the national budget in 2015 from payments received by the National Trust Eco Fund.

Bulgaria has signed two collaboration agreements with the Austrian government for trading in Assigned Amount Units (AAU). The contracts were in alignment with the prescriptions of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol.

Minsiter Vassilieva said that 77 projects on energy effectiveness have been realized through selling of Bulgaria's unused volumes of greenhouse emissions for a total of BGN 27 M, as stated by the Ministry's press office.

The program itself is socially oriented as the funding is mainly used for improvements in public sites - 32 schools, 28 kindergartens, 9 cultural and social organizations, 5 medical facilities and 3 administrative buildings.

The total annual savings from energy consumption for the period of the program have been close to BGN 4 M, Minister Vassileva added. The renovation of buildings and facilities had led to the opening of jobs, and the total investment in Bulgarian citizens is estimated at BGN 5.5 M.
