British Prime Minister David Cameron and US President Barack Obama reaffirmed on Friday their countries' willingness to cooperate in tackling radicalism and preventing domestic extremism.

Cameron, who is on a two-day visit to Washington, said that the UK is to deploy more unarmed drones in support to the ground forces fighting Islamic State (IS), the BBC reports.

The talks between the two leaders come a week after the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris and the anti-terrorist raids in Belgium on Thursday.

The UK is also on high alert, having risen its threat level to four out of five, with the police being warned that it might become the target of terrorist attacks.

Another vulnerable group, for which additional security measures have been taken, is the Jewish community.

Obama said that the US, the UK and their allies were working in cooperation to prevent further attacks and defeat the terrorist networks.

Cameron announced that the UK is to deploy additional 1000 troops to take part in NATO military exercises in the Baltic states and Eastern Europe in view of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The British Prime Minister was more cautious in imposing further economic sanctions against Iran due to its nuclear programme.

According to Cameron, such a move would be “counter-productive” and could be detrimental to the achievement of a diplomatic solution.

He assured that the UK and the US remain committed to preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, which would be best achieved if the negotiations were allowed to succeed.

It was also announced that the two countries are to carry out “war game” cyber attacks on each other as part of a new joint defence against online criminals.
