Four Bulgarian MPs Leave BWC Party Due to Barekov's Incosistency

Four Bulgarian members of parliament leave the Bulgaria Without Censorship (BWC) party due to the inconsistency of their leader Nikolay Barekov.

Stefan Kenov, Georgi Kovachev, Borislav Iglev and Hristo Todorov quit the party and their respective positions within it, but are to stay in its parliamentary group Bulgarian Democratic Centre.

The four MPs are leaving BWC voluntarily, electronic daily Dnevnik reports.

Todorov justified his decision to stay in the parliamentary group with the commitments towards his constituents from Pazardzhik district, which he will try to fulfill.

In a declaration prepared by Todorov and Iglev, they state that they discontinue their party membership, because of their inability to fulfill the commitments towards their constituents.

They accuse Barekov of presenting his personal opinion, which alters frequently, as the party's position.

They point to his personal battles, sudden changes in his attitude and viewpoints as obstacles for the party's inability to come up with a common stance and the uselessness to its constituents.

This presents difficulties for the functioning of the parliamentary group and inability to make policies.

Barekov's behaviour makes the personal initiative and responsibility of the MPs useless.

The four MPs complain that pressure has been exerted on them to take decisions contrary to their morals and dignity.

They also express their readiness to help their colleagues to solve the internal problems within the party.
