Temperatures in Bulgaria Reach Unexpectedly High Levels

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) measured 19 temperature records in Bulgaria on Tuesday.

The average daily temperature was 16-17 degrees.

The warmest place in Bulgaria on Tuesday was the city of Plovdiv, where 21.4 degrees were recorded.

The coldest place was the town of Silistra, where 11 degrees were measured.

In Sofia the maximum temperature was 14.2 degrees.

NIMH explained that the temperatures were lower than the absolute maximum for December – 29 degrees, which was measured in 1941.

According to the forecasts, the weather on Wednesday will continue to be untypically warm for the season with maximum temperatures of between 13 and 18 degrees, with minimum temperatures in the morning reaching between 1 and 6 degrees.

It will be predominantly sunny over the mountains, there will be moderate to strong wind from the northwest.

The wind from west-northwest will increase on Thursday when it will be sunny in the beginning of the day, but later it will become cloudy.

The daily temperatures will decrease slightly, with the maximum expected to be between 9 and 14 degrees, while the minimum will reach between 2 and 7 degrees.

The cloud cover will thicken on Friday and there will be rainfall in parts of Eastern and Northwestern Bulgaria.

The daily temperatures will drop considerably.

On Saturday it will be cloudy, with precipitation occurring, in the larger parts of the country it will be snowing, while it will be raining in the Black Sea and the southernmost regions.

It will be windy and the decrease of temperatures will continue.
