Bulgarian Members of Parliament are to discuss at a first reading the draft budget for 2015 at an extraordinary plenary sitting on Monday.

The draft budget for next year projects a public debt of BGN 8.1 B, economic growth of 0.8 %, increase of the minimum wage to BGN 360 from January 1, rise of the maximum taxable income, deficit of 3 %.

The draft state budget, the state social insurance and the budget of the National Health Insurance Fund (NZOK) have been approved simultaneously at first reading by three parliamentary committees – Budget and Finance, Labour, Social and Demographic Policy, and Healthcare.

The two main opposition parties – Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) voted against the draft budget.

The leader of DPS Lyutvi Mestan said that his party is not to support the draft budget as it harmed one of the most vulnerable groups in society – the small-scale agricultural producers.
