Bulgaria's National Revenue Agency (NAP) warned its customers of a phishing scam, using its name and a copy of its website.

According to Dnevnik.bg, NAP customers are getting e-mails in English from billing@nap.bg, asking them to provide information for a debit card, PIN code, bank account number, in order to get back BGN 977.93 from overpaid taxes. An attached file in the e-mail leads to a mirror copy of the NAP English website, where the customers are supposed to enter the requested information.

In a statement on its website NAP informs that: “Employees of the agency never and for any reason ask for information on bank accounts and credit cards to be entered in electronic forms or sent via e-mail.”

According to NAP, those e-mails were most likely a phishing scam, which is already investigated by the authorities.
