Poland ForMin: US Ties 'Worthless', UK's Cameron 'Incompetent'

Fresh excerpts of a tapped conversation between Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski and a former Finance Minister have triggered another scandal involving the government.

In recording provided by Wprost, a news magazine, Sikorski is heard making insulting remarks on relations with Washington and British Prime Minister David Cameron's EU policies, the BBC reports.

The latest revelation of Wprost comes just ten days after the magazine published another wiretapped conversation between National Bank chief Marek Belka and Interior Minister Bartolomiej Sienkewicz in which the removal of former Finance Minister Jacek Rostowski (who stepped down a few months on) was being discussed.

Sikorski does not deny having uttered the remarks in his conversation, which was precisely with Rostowski, but believes they were taken out of context.

He allegedly told Rostowski in early 2014 that alliance with the US "isn't worth anything" and also compared Warsaw's attitude to Washington to oral sex.

Poland's Foreign Minister described immigration policies of David Cameron as "either a very badly though through move or, not for the first time, his incompetence in European affairs".

Speaking of Cameron's stance on the 2011 EU fiscal compact he also argued the Prime Minister "stupidly tries to manipulate the system".

Sikorski, known for his harsh stance against Russian policies in the Ukraine crisis, was earlier nominated for the office of the EU high representative on foreign affairs, which Catherina Ashton is to vacate in November.

He is also perceived to have been among the three foreign ministers who helped to wind down tensions in Kiev in mid-February, hours before then-President Viktor Yanukovych was ousted by Parliament.

His political future in government is however yet unknown, as Prime Minister Donald Tusk said short after the leaks scandal broke that he did not rule out snap elections.

The daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung has quoted Tusk as calling Wprost's tapes "an intended coup d'etat" and has shown his inclination toward a scenario of Russian involvement in the scandal.
