Bulgarian immigrants in Germany do not endanger the country's welfare system, but contribute to the German economy, according to a study by European Commission.

Bulgarians who settle down in Germany are no burden to the state' social welfare system, because most of them are qualified workers who quickly find a job to provide for themselves and pay their social security taxes, says a report by the European Commission (EC), as cited by Deutsche Welle (DW).

Immigrants heading from Bulgaria and Romania to Germany are not after the country's social welfare funds, according to the survey obtained by DW ahead of publication.

Bulgarians and Romanians living and working in Germany do not live off German social system, because they are actually skilled workers able to quickly find a job and contribute to the social funds themselves.

The report, yet to be published by EC, refutes the „benefit tourism“ notion, according to which Bulgarians and Romanians move to Germany and Great Britain only to benefit from their social welfare systems rather than to work.
