The villages of Boykovo and Skobelevo near Bulgaria's second largest city of Plovdiv woke up Saturday morning with a fresh snow cover.

Mayor of Rhodoppe municipality, Plamen Spasov, reported the news, stressing the situation in the Rhodoppe mountains is normal and the amount of snow did not require the use of removal equipment.

Bulgaria's the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, BAS, declared Saturday code yellow for potentially dangerous weather, due to the early October cold spell for 14 regions in northern, western and central Bulgaria
