Bulgaria's President and Commander in Chief, Rosen Plevneliev, congratulated Monday the country's servicemen for their active contributions to international peacekeeping and security.

Plevneliev spoke during the military parade, the second for him as Commander in Chief, held in downtown Sofia and dedicated to May 6, the Day of Army Valor.

“Today we bow our heads to the deeds of all heroes. We commemorate the memory of thousands Bulgarians who died in the wars for national liberation and unification of the motherland," said Rosen Plevneliev.

In his words, the Bulgarian people will never forget their brave and courageous men.

"We cherish the memory of their heroism. Thousands of monuments bear testament to our respect for those who perished," the president said.

"All Bulgarian institutions should support the leadership of the armed forces, command and army personnel, their efforts to modernize and enhance the capabilities of our army," Plevneliev added.
