Bulgaria's newly appointed Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism, Asen Vasilev, has demanded the resignation of his deputy in charge of tourism, Ivo Marinov.
Marinov has already filed his resignation, according to local media. He has told reporters that Vasilev deemed his post unnecessary.
Marinov has argued that there should be a deputy Minister in charge of tourism, since the sector is among the few that have been constantly growing in Bulgaria despite the crisis.
International tourism accounts for 12% of Bulgaria's GDP, he argued.
Marinov further noted that it was not the right time for his dismissal, since key international tourism fairs are currently taking place.
Asen Vasilev was appointed Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism in Bulgaria's caretaker government on Wednesday.
