Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and his ruling center-right party GERB are failing with the "propaganda situation" in the country for the first time, according to pollsters.

"The current situation is like an earthquake, and in a time of an earthquake we should wait it out in order to be able to measure it up," sociologist Andrey Raychev commented Tuesday on Nova TV.

He noted that in his government term so far Borisov had always been able to dictate the topics of the political discussions in Bulgaria.

"But now – when the people are roaring they are penniless – it is inappropriate to come up with a tax on deposit interest," Raychev commented.

Yet, Raychev is convinced that in the several months left until Bulgaria's 2013 parliamentary elections there will not be enough time for a new major political player to appear on the stage.

Political scientist Rumyana Kolarova, however, has disagreed with Raychev's claim.

"In stable democracies, three months is enough time for a new political actor to shape up," she said.

According to Kolarova, a potential major new political actor in Bulgaria is not likely to resemble the emergence of ex Tsar Simeon Saxe-Coburg's NMSP party in 2001, or the win of Boyko Borisov's GERB in 2009. She cited data from Denmark's politics where a potential new political actor is likely to get between 18% and 20% of the votes if it appears at least three months before the respective elections.

"The big question for me is whether a new political actor will appear. This would be when the earthquake would happen. The people are looking for an honest, proper person," Kolarova declared.
