The condition of Bulgarian Transport Minister, Ivaylo Moskovski, who was injured Friday in car crash, is stable.

Moskovski suffered a broken arm and underwent a successful 4-hour surgery Saturday, the Transport Ministry reported Sunday.

Prof. Spasov, Director of the Government Hospital, where the Minister is listed, assures he is in good condition and no other injuries have been established.

In the Friday incident, a Volkswagen Golf, driven by Dimitar Stoyanov, 35, on a two-line road, attempted to pass three cars and a truck, causing a head-on collision with the automobile where Moskovski and his Chief of Staff, Angelina Toteva, were riding.

Moskovski, Toteva and the Minister's driver, who sustained the most serious injuries and underwent leg surgery, were transported to the hospital in Lovech and later to Sofia.

All are in stable condition.

Stoyanov, who is blamed for causing the accident, had also sustained light leg injuries, but has refused hospital care.

Moskovski was on his way to inspect the ongoing repair works of the railway station in the village of Plachkovtsi that was destroyed in a fire in January.

He was also expected to take part in a roundtable discussion on industry in the town of Gabrovo.

The main I-14 road was closed for traffic for hours Friday.
