Bulgaria's government allocated Monday extra budget payments of BGN 11.2 M to the Sofia Municipality and of BGN 10 M to the Defense Ministry.

The Sofia Municipality will use the money for building and reconstructing key road junctions and for a thorough overhaul of bridges and other facilities related to the development of transport and communications, according to the government's press office.

The sum of BGN 11.2 M will also go to adjacent infrastructure to the Sofia subway system, to the Lyulin highway, and to extensions of the Sofia ring road.

According to the government's media statements, the extra money has been earmarked for sites of national importance.

The sum of BGN 10 M allocated to the Defense Ministry will be used for a partial settlement of the debts of the Military Medical Academy in Sofia for supplies of pharmaceuticals.

The Sofia Municipality and the Defense Ministry will receive the extra payments as a result of a restructuring of expenses under the centralized budget 2012.
