Bulgaria's government has approved the proposed Israeli honorary consulate in the Black Sea city of Burgas, local media said Wednesday.

The upcoming opening of Israel's honorary consulate in Burgas was announced Tuesday by Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov at a memorial ceremony for the victims of last week's terrorist attack.

The July 18 terrorist attack in Bulgaria's Burgas, also known as the Burgas Bus Bombing, killed 5 Israeli tourists and a Bulgarian bus driver at the city's airport.

Orlin Mandov, a native of Varna, who has long-time experience working with Israeli tourist companies, is to become Honorary Consul of Israel in Burgas, it has been confirmed.
