Bulgarian star striker Dimitar Berbatov has been said to be pending a switch to Paris Saint Germain.

According to reports of UK tabloid newspaper The Daily Star, the Bulgarian chose to start talks with Carlo Ancelotti's PSG rather than be part of a deal planned by Sir Alex Ferguson to land Borussia Dortmund's Poland international Robert Lewandowski.

The media outlet predicts that the talks for a transfer to PSG will run smoothly because Ancelotti is already a huge admirer of Berbatov and can afford to pay him a salary close to what he earns now.

Berbatov's transfer fee of around GBP 7M is said to be well within budget for Qatar-owned PSG.

"There have been many speculations about Dimitar. However, PSG is a project can really interest him because he wants to play in the Champions League," Berbatov's agent Emil Danchev is quoted as saying.

"What is more, no Bulgarian has so far played for PSG, so this is a good option," Danchev adds.

Several days ago, 31-year-old Berbatov admitted that his time at Manchester United was up.

The Bulgarian striker sat out much of the last season and the renewal of his contract remained unclear for quite some time.
