Russian Plane Crashes, 12 Survive

A Russian plane with 43 passengers and crew has crashed in Siberia early Monday morning, killing at least 16.

According to Russian officials, the plane crashed at take-off. It disappeared from radars at 05:35 am local time, State-owned Russian news channel Rossiya 24 reports, cited by Bulgarian bTV.

The ATR-72 turboprop aircraft had just left Tyumen on a flight northeast to the oil town of Surgut when it crashed.

BBC informs that Russia's Emergencies Ministry has notified that 12 survivors have been found in the rubble and taken to the hospital in Tyumen. Other media talk about 9 survivors. 5 of them are in critical condition, RIA-Novosti says.

Also according to preliminary and unconfirmed information, 39 passengers and four crew members were on board the plane, which crashed about 35km (22 miles) from Tyumen.
