Russian National Detained in Burgas After Police Find Ammunition and Rifle with Scope

A police operation in Burgas has led to the discovery of a significant quantity of ammunition and a weapon equipped with optics in a residential property in the Ostritsata-2 area, near the Banevo district.

The search was carried out on April 1 by officers from the Criminal Police Department of the Burgas Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, together with colleagues from the Second Regional Police Department. The address is reportedly occupied by a 54-year-old Russian citizen who holds permanent residency status in Bulgaria, according to Nova TV.

Inside the apartment, law enforcement officers seized multiple types of ammunition, including 192 cartridges of 9 mm caliber, 20 cartridges of .22 caliber, and 64 cartridges of 12-gauge caliber. An air rifle fitted with an optical sight was also found during the search.

The man was taken into custody for up to 24 hours, while pre-trial proceedings have been opened as part of the investigation into the case.
