Bulgarian President, Rosen Plevneliev will test drive Monday the US-made Chevrolet Volt hybrid automobile.
The test drive will begin at 11:30 am, the presidential press office informs. It will be held if front of the main entrance of the presidential office on 2 "Dondukov" boulevard.
In addition to driving the Chevy, the President will learn in detail its technical features.
US President, Barack Obama, already took a look at the vehicle and said he was thinking of buying one for himself after his second term in office.
Chevrolet Volt is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle manufactured by General Motors, and sold as the Opel/Vauxhall Ampera in Europe. Volt sales in the US began in mid-December 2010 and in international markets since September 2011. Customer deliveries of the Opel Ampera in Europe began in February 2012.
The Volt is the most fuel-efficient compact car with a gasoline engine sold in the United States, as rated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).The Volt operates as a pure battery electric vehicle until its plug-in battery capacity drops to a predetermined threshold from full charge, at which point its gasoline engine powers an electric generator to extend the vehicle's range.
Volt is unique among electric vehicles because of its two sources of energy. There is an electric source–the battery–that allows a gas–free run for an EPA–estimated 35 miles. There's also an onboard gas generator that produces electricity allowing up to a total of 375 miles on a full tank of gas.
The Chevrolet Volt has won numerous prestigious awards.
