A third senior official had been attacked and beaten at the end of last year, but the incident had not been made public.

Alexander Alexandrov from the Commission for Protection of Competition had been attacked in the evening of November 19 on 59 Solun (Thessaloniki) street in the capital district "Borovo".

A man, dressed in a black, attacked him and dealt fist blows on his head.

Alexandrov sought medical attention with a smashed and bloodied face.

The Bulgarian Standard daily cites own sources from the Sofia Directorate of the Interior Ministry confirming that there is such case and an investigation in it. The main lead is that the attack is related to decisions of the Commission. Police say the attacker has not yet been caught.

Alexandrov himself could not be reached for comment, but his colleagues had confirmed that he came to work in bruises.

The member of the antimonopoly commission had been attacked two days before the beating the Director of Nuclear Power Plant, NPP, "Kozloduy," Alexander Nikolov. The Director of Fund "Agriculture," Rumen Porozhanov, was thrashed on December 29, just hundred meters from the location where Alexandrov had been assaulted on November 19.
