Mild Earthquake Felt in Southeastern Bulgaria

A mild earthquake was felt Monday morning in a number of villages in the Tundzha municipality in the Yambol Province in southeastern Bulgaria.

The quake measured 2.5 on the Richter scale and was registered at 10:10 a.m. in the area between the towns of Radnevo and Topolovgrad, the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) said in statement.

The tremor was lightly felt in the villages of Skalitsa and Miladinovtsi.

According to Darik Radio reports based on data from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the earthquake had a magnitude of 2.8 on the Richter scale and was registered at 10:10 a.m. at a depth of 15 kilometers some 55 kilometers northwest of Edrine and some 10 kilometers southeast of the town of Elhovo.
