Hundreds of Bulgarian couples are set to tie the knot on Friday, hoping for a good start to their married life on the day 11/11/11.

It is the eleventh day of the eleventh month of the seventh year this millennium, or 11-11-11, even though a Friday, not a very traditional day to hold a wedding in the country.

Civil registers in Sofia alone have received almost a hundred requests for marriage ceremonies, with dozens more in each of Bulgaria's other major cities.

The rare occurrence has also prompted some local officials to offer less than ordinary settings to mark a moment that won't repeat for 100 years - а lineup of digits at 11 minutes past the 11th hour on 11/11/2011.
