Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov starts on Monday a two-day official visit to Austria, his first trip abroad for 2011.

Parvanov's visit is at the invitation of his counterpart Heinz Fischer and he will be accompanied by his wife, Zorka.

The two presidents will continue their "active dialogue at the highest level after they exchanged visits back in 2005 and 2006, and met many times at international forums," according to a media statement from the presidency.

The heads of state are scheduled to discuss cooperation between the two countries within the EU, trade, economic and investment relations between Bulgaria and Austria, regional and international issues and initiatives of common interest, the statement said.

Following the meeting with  Fischer, Parvanov will confer with Austrian chancellor Werner Faymann, the president of the national council, Barbara Prammer and the mayor of Vienna, Michael H?upl.

A check on the site of the presidency shows that the majority of Parvanov's trips abroad last year had to do with Bulgaria's obligations as a member of international organizations.
