Negotiations on Iran's nuclear program held in Istanbul over Friday and Saturday have now closed down without any palpable result, report world agencies.

Besides Iran, talks included the five nuclear powers - Russia, the USA, France, UK, China - as well as Germany.

EU High Representative for External Affairs Catherine Ashton, who acted as an intermediary, commented she was "disappointed" at the outcome.

"It is now up to Iran to show that its nuclear program is peaceful," said Ashton, clarifying that no further talks are previewed for the time being.

The EU High Representative also revealed that Iran's conditions were found to be unacceptable to the other negotiating parties.

On his part, Irani chief negotiator Saeed Jalili insisted on the right of his country to develop a nuclear program for peaceful purposes.
