OLAF Assesses Highly Bulgaria's Anti-frauds Efforts

The EU anti-fraud office OLAF has sent a letter to the Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov to express its high assessment of the progress of Bulgaria in curbing frauds with EU funds.
The letter has been sent by Thierry Cretin, Director of Directorate A (Operations and Investigations I), who visited Bulgaria in February 2010 on the invitation of the Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov.
In the letter, Cretin points out the efforts by the Bulgarian government throughout 2010 for improving the national system for protection of frauds with EU funds.
In his words, the efforts resulted in significant increase of the capacity and motivation of the national unit Anti-fraud Co-ordination Structure (AFCOS-Bulgaria), which is led by Tsvetanov and operates as a partner of OLAF.
Cretin has also expressed his belief that the intensive exchange of information and mutual trust, which have been built, are a good premise for achieving positive results.
The letter also notes the contribution of the Bulgarian PM Borisov for the good cooperation between OLAF and AFCOS.
