The Rezidor Hotel Group officially launched Tuesday evening Park Inn Sofia, the very first Park Inn property in Bulgaria, which happened to be the hundredth in the chain.

"Eastern Europe is an important development region for Park Inn by Radisson, and we look forward to positioning Park Inn Sofia on the market and to actively search for further business opportunities in Bulgaria," Rezidor's Area Vice President J?rg Schiffmann told journalists from local media after giving them a show-around.

"Park Inn by Radisson offers great value for money. At Park Inn Sofia, the warm, safe and hassle free atmosphere, the personal service focused on the essentials and following our philosophy "Yes I Can!", and the attractive rates make us standing out of the crowd," added the hotel's General Manager Christian Dangel.

Park Inn Sofia originally opened in 2005 under the name "Greenville Hotel". The property is located 3.5 km south of Sofia's city centre and features 77 rooms and 36 apartments with a contemporary and stylish design according to Park Inn's modern brand identity. It also comprises a restaurant with an outdoor terrace, 2 bars and 2 meeting rooms, which makes it a preferred place for weddings and private parties. A wellness and sports centre includes an indoor swimming pool, fitness area and treatment rooms.

The hotel has access to the numerous business parks which surround the city and are home to many international firms. Sofia's two most important congress centres, the Inter Expo & Congress Centre and National Palace of Culture, are also in proximity.

The managers hope to drive more business into Sofia through brand recognition. Park Inn is Rezidor's young, dynamic and colourful mid-market brand, which promises to give value for the money paid, doesn't have all the extra service aspects but aims at the pockets. In 2010, the brand’s generic name was changed to “Park Inn by Radisson".

"Our brand is a promise, which will bring more business to Bulgaria," said J?rg Schiffmann. According to him the biggest strength of Rezidor Hotel Group is that it manages and operates the hotels in a familiar manner.

Christian Dangel pointed out that Park Inn Hotel will complement, not compete with Radisson Blu, another Rezidor brand on the market in Sofia.

"The Radisson Blu is the upmarket brand, while the Park Inn by Radisson targets the mid-market. This means that if Radisson Blu have a piece of business that they bring in and that wants high-level accommodation, they can support us, their colleagues at the Park Inn," he said.

Taking up a journalistic question, Dangel agreed that the hotel market in Sofia is very price sensitive and five-star hotels are taking business from the four-star market now, but stressed they are adapting successfully.

"We are following the market very closely and aim to give added value to our clients. Still there is no sense in giving our services for no money," he said.

The Rezidor Hotel Group features a portfolio of more than 400 hotels in operation and under development with 86,300 rooms in over 60 countries.

Rezidor operates the brands Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts, Park Inn by Radisson and Country Inns & Suites in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
