Bulgaria's police have captured 5 kg of cocaine that originated in Latin American in a special operation for busting a drug trafficking network.

Several drug "mules" have been arrested as part of the network that trafficked the cocaine into Bulgaria and then to other EU countries.

The police found that the organized crime group was especially skillful at various ways to hide the drugs – in suitcases, bags, souvenirs, in capsules, inside the clothes, and by swallowing, among others, the Interior Ministry press center announced.

The drug mules are from Sofia, Elin Pelin, and Dobrich; they would most often swallow the cocaine in order to bring it from Latin America into Bulgaria, i.e. to the EU.

The police arrested 6 persons in Gotse Delchev, a town near the border with Greece, aged between 30 and 56, including a man who is believed to be one of the organizers of the trafficking. Still another man is wanted.
