JESSICA would be a model for public-private partnership, said Bulgaria's Minister on Regional Development Tuesday at the conference on using the EU tool.

The Joint European Support for Sustainable Investment in City Areas (JESSICA) is the EU tool for financing urban development projects.

Bulgaria's Minister on Regional Development, Rosen Plevneliev, announced that in a few days, the Parliament will ratify the framework agreement with the European Investment Bank for the creation of the holding fund.

He also urged the municipalities and the private sector to use the opportunities that JESSICA offers and assured that the state will help their urban development projects.

The mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, has stated that the municipality of the Bulgarian capital will use the investment opportunity for projects on the sustainable development of the city.

She also pointed out the projects that Sofia is developing under EU programs, like the subway, the sewage and other projects under the operation program "Regional Development."

Fandakova has expressed her belief that although the projects did not solve all the problems in Sofia, in two years the Bulgarian capital will have an improved infrastructure.
