Berbatov Learns Management from Ferguson

Dimitar Berbatov (L) scores Manchester United's third goal during the English Premier League soccer match between Manchester United and West Ham United at Old Trafford, 28 August 2010.

The Bulgarian striker of Manchester Union Dimitar Berbatov has admitted he takes note about the management methods of Sir Alex Ferguson.

"He is one of the most successful managers in the history of the game. I write things down about the way we train and how he treats people. It is like a school. You work with the best manager and play with the best players. I try to learn. I am at the biggest club in the world. If I can learn anywhere it is here," Berbatov told MUTV.

Berbatov admitted he was in awe of Ferguson upon arriving at Old Trafford, but revealed that the image of the Scot portrayed in the media is different from the reality behind the scenes.

"At first I was star struck but when you start to know him, you see he is a very nice guy. He jokes around with the players but when things don't go the way he wants he can be tough. It is not that it makes you feel uncomfortable. He just wants you to be sure in yourself. Every human being is different. You need different approaches and he goes to every player and speaks to them alone to motivate them," said the Bulgarian striker.

Berbatov has had a superb performance after the start of the English Premier League season, with 7 goals so far. He ended last year with only 12 goals and much criticism of unconvincing performance after United paid for him the club record GBP 30.75 M in 2008.

"The form of Dimitar Berbatov has meant that other players have taken a back seat, which is unfortunate for them because they are good players," United Manager Ferguson is quoted as saying
