Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, expressed his regrets German legend Lothar Matthaeus has been hired as coach of Bulgaria's national football team.

Borisov, who is New York for the 65th session of the United Nation's General Assembly, is quoted saying the German is not a good match for Bulgaria.

"I don't know what he will do in Bulgaria; the most he can achieve is to get married one more time here. It is a pithy we are so used to bow to foreigners. I think we had our own great candidates, including Hristo Stoichkov – they are in no way inferior, they are even better," Borisov said.

The PM, however, pointed out that the President of the Bulgarian Football Union, Borislav Mihailov, had no other choice but to hire a foreign coach over the numerous feuding camps in Bulgaria.

"Let's wish him luck. I, as all Bulgarian fans, wish to see them successful," Borisov stated.

Matthaeus signed his contract with BulgariaThursday afternoon, and was formally presented by Mihailov to the media.
