Bulgaria's firemen mark their professional holiday on September 14. The professional holiday of the Bulgarian firemen was first marked in 1905 and the tradition was renewed in 1995.

Firemen will lay flowers in front of the monument dedicated to their colleagues who died while executing their duties. Then a special mass will be served for all Bulgarian firemen.

Last month 92 Bulgarian firefighters helped extinguishing wildfires some 130 km east of Moscow, Russia.

The Bulgarian team of firemen and doctors who helped quench the blazes that choked Russia were decorated by Moscow region vice-governor for their brave efforts.

Moscow vice-governor Konstantin Sedov presented the 92 Bulgarian firefighters and 3 doctors with the order "For Co-operation in the Name of Rescue", which was awarded to them by the federal Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Local authorities where Bulgarian firefighters operated sent out letters of gratitude to Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov and Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov. Earlier in August Russian PM Vladimir Putin personally thanked PM Borisov for sending out help.
