Dimitar Berbatov's agent has denied rumors from France that the Bulgarian striker is planning to turn his back on Manchester.

"Dimitar is happy in Manchester," said agent Emil Dantchev. "He had a very good preseason and I am convinced that he will have a good season. I thus do not see why I would comment on such rumors."

The statement comes in response to French media reports, according to which French football great Olympique de Marseille is considering making an offer to Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov, who’s playing for Manchester United.

Currently Olympique de Marseille coach Didier Deschamps is looking for a striker after selling Mamadu Niang to Turkish Fenerbahce. First choice for replacement is Sevilla’s Luis Fabiano, but his team is unwilling to part with him.

France Football reports that Deschamps’s “Plan B” is Berbatov, but also quote other sources saying that the second option is Ukrainian Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.

According to the French edition of Football Mercato the transfer of the Bulgarian striker to the Velodrome Stadium is highly unlikely due to his sky-high salary of EUR 5 M per season, which is not affordable for Olympique de Marseille, even if Manchester United covers part of it.
