Bulgarian Ranger Hurt in Kabul Airport Watchtower Accident

A Bulgarian corporal has been injured after falling from a watchtower at the Kabul Airport in Afghanistan.

Corporal Vasil Blagoev from the Bulgarian troops guarding the airport in the Afghan capital tripped and fell last Wednesday night, the Defense Ministry announced.

The ranger survived by injured his right leg and right hand. He was taken to the French field hospital KAI A, and was later returned to the base.

Bulgaria currently has a total of 530 troops stationed in Afghanistan, split almost equally between the airport bases in Kabul and Kandahar.

By the end of the year, it will send additional 65 rangers to boost its contingent within the ISAF.
